As you all know, the oncological treatment paradigm, as well as many other life threatening diseases, such as AIDS, has changed in the past few years. Since there is no cure at this time or in any time soon, the total eradication of the disease is not possible. The notion is to alter malignant diseases from aggressive/advanced state into a much benign chronic state and/or to make it dormant (hybernation/diapause). By doing so, we can buy time and wait for a more effective medicine later on. I guess I am officially qualified as an individual, who is "living with lung cancer".
For now, in order to make sure of my adequate life quality and promising perspectives, I have been trying to continue all of my regular schedule and daily routines as much as I can. It is my belief that this is the best way to maintain my physical and mental health in fighting this longterm battle. It gives me great pleasure to participate your educational processes. I wish to be there to witness your professional growth and maturation as well. I also want to continue my efforts in the advancement of my academic and professional career. I totally refuse to entertain the idea of my being a victim or prisoner of the disease itself.
Good luck to your pharmacology exam next week. I will see you around in the campus. Please continue to put me in your prayers. Thank you again.
